Common questions
How quickly do I need to act?
As soon as possible. Emergency contraception becomes less effective the longer you wait, and one option is only licensed for use within 72 hours. If you're not sure you'll reach us in time, call ahead so we can advise you.
Is it confidential if I'm under 16?
Yes. We follow national safeguarding guidance (Fraser Guidelines) to assess whether you can consent to this yourself. If you're under 13, we're required to involve a safeguarding lead, so we'll need to speak with you directly rather than assess this online — please call or visit a branch.
Do I have to see a pharmacist in person?
Yes — this is a legal requirement for supplying emergency contraception, not something we can skip. The online screening speeds up that conversation, it doesn't replace it.
Can I complete this for someone else?
No — emergency contraception has to be assessed directly with the person who needs it. Please have them contact us, or bring them in.
